MEMBER & RECOGNIZED BY:IBAIR Global ASOCUPAAIJA IMAA

Senior counsel. Integrated practice. Direct access.

When your matter crosses a border, it also crosses legal systems, business cultures, and regulatory frameworks. Most firms give you coverage. CHANIS gives you a lawyer who understands where you are coming from — and the integrated practice to resolve the matter in Panama without routing it through separate engagements.

DIRECT ACCESS

Your matter stays with the partner. Every stage, every question, every call.

Your file is never handed to a team you didn’t choose. The lawyer who understands your needs is the one doing the work.
INTEGRATED EXPERTISE

Corporate, M&A, compliance, technology — one team.

AML/CFT obligations, data protection, tax, and operational requirements handled as part of the same engagement.
INTERNATIONAL REACH

Panama as the anchor. Dedicated desks for the markets that matter to you.

We operate with dedicated market desks — built for the specific markets our clients come from, with correspondent networks for the rest.
OUR PRACTICE

Four full-scope practice areas. One engagement.

Most cross-border matters do not live in a single practice area. A business entering Panama needs entity formation, regulatory compliance, and contract architecture that holds up under the jurisdiction’s evolving framework. An investor acquiring an asset needs corporate structuring, transactional execution, and an understanding of the local property regime simultaneously, not sequentially. CHANIS is built for exactly that kind of matter. Our four practice areas are handled by the same integrated team, drawing on the same institutional knowledge of Panama’s regulatory environment, with international structuring as the thread that connects them all.

01

M&A & Business Transactions

Deals have momentum. The structure has to keep up. We advise buyers, sellers, and investors on acquisitions, reorganizations, joint ventures, and cross-border transactions — with the commercial judgment and network to execute wherever the deal takes you. When a transaction becomes a dispute, we handle it — through negotiation or litigation, in our areas of expertise, through every stage.

02

Corporate & Business Law

Your business needs a lawyer who shows up before the problem does. We cover the full operating lifecycle of a company in Panama — from governance and contracts through employment, tax, real estate, and exit strategy — with ongoing corporate counsel at every stage. We work as your in-house legal team without the overhead.

03

Technology & Digital Business

Tech companies don’t fit the standard legal template. SaaS contracts, platform liability, data protection, fintech regulation, startup structuring, investment readiness, and acquisitions where the assets are code, data, and contracts — lawyers who understand how digital businesses actually operate, not generalists who adapt a corporate template.

Real Estate & Condominium Law

Real estate in Panama moves fast and the legal framework is specific. We advise buyers, sellers, developers, and investors on property acquisitions, condominium structuring, title due diligence, and developer contracts — with the regulatory depth that Panama’s Condominium Law demands. Whether the matter is a single asset acquisition, a full development project, or a tech-integrated development involving tokenized assets or smart city infrastructure — we handle the transaction and the structure behind it.

International Business & Investment Structuring

Panama is the structure and hub. The holding, the investment vehicle, the residency program, the Türkiye Desk — these activate when your matter crosses borders, from whichever practice it starts. We work with a network of vetted legal correspondents across jurisdictions, with Panama as the anchor and dedicated market desks as the bridge.

WHY CHANIS

Built for matters that do not stay in one box.

At CHANIS, every engagement works the same way: the same partner across every stage, the same team across every practice area the matter touches, and the judgment to know when a transaction needs to become a negotiation — and when a negotiation needs to become litigation. That is not a credential. That is how we practice.

01

One integrated team

Corporate structuring, transactions, regulatory compliance, and technology law, handled by the same team. Every engagement draws on the full scope and depth of the practice — not a specialist brought in after the fact when the matter gets complex.

02

Native expertise, not adapted coverage

Technology companies, digital platforms, fintechs, and real estate developers operate in a regulatory environment that moves faster than most lawyers can track. Data protection, condominium law, fintech frameworks, and technology contracts — our team works these areas every day.

03

Türkiye Desk & dedicated market corridors

Panama attracts investors from markets that most local firms are not equipped to serve directly. CHANIS operates dedicated market desks — beginning with the Türkiye Desk, led by Alexandra Guzmán, who advises Turkish-speaking investors and businesses structuring operations in Panama in their language and within their commercial context. The desk model is built to replicate as new corridors develop.

From negotiation to litigation — we stay in the matter.

One team across the full matter — from transaction to negotiation to litigation when that is what the matter requires. The team who structured the deal is the one who sees it through. Most engagements never reach that point, but when they do, continuity is not a courtesy — it is a material advantage. The same team that knows the deal, the parties, and history is better positioned to negotiate or litigate it than counsel brought in cold.

OUR TRAJECTORY

Twenty-plus years in the Panama market teaches you things no manual covers.

Twenty-plus years teach you where structures fail, when negotiations break, where regulators focus, and where a transaction that looks efficient on paper becomes a problem in practice. CHANIS was built around that kind of judgment: legal advice shaped by what actually happens after signing, after growth, and under scrutiny.

CHANIS was founded in 2005. Since then, Panama has reformed its AML framework, enacted data protection legislation, created the MHQ regime for multinational companies, launched EMMA for manufacturing operations, introduced the Qualified Investor Visa as a direct path to permanent residency, and positioned itself as one of the most actively used jurisdictions for regional corporate structuring in Latin America. We have practiced through every one of those developments — advising companies, investors, and family businesses at each stage of that evolution. That history is why investors from markets as different as Türkiye, Europe, Latin America, and North America trust us to navigate Panama on their behalf — and why we built the infrastructure to serve each of them on their own terms.
